JFCS Designated as a Mercy Care Center of Excellence for Transition Aged Youth in 2023

Phoenix (August 29, 2023) – Jewish Family & Children's Service (JFCS) is proud to announce that it has been designated as a Mercy Care Center of Excellence for Transition Aged Youth for 2023. This honor recognizes JFCS for its unwavering commitment to providing exceptional behavioral health, healthcare and social services to one of the community’s most vulnerable populations – transition-aged youth between the ages of 16 and 21.

Centers of Excellence: A Mark of Quality and Care
Centers of Excellence are distinguished providers, organizations or networks that have implemented, or are accredited as trainers of, Evidence-Based Practices focused on the improvement of clinical outcomes. This selection by Mercy Care underscores JFCS' rigorous adherence to high-quality service and treatment modalities that improve the life quality of individuals and families.

Mercy Care made this prestigious selection based on JFCS' dedication and commitment to serving the community’s most vulnerable members. MaryJo Whitfield, MSW, Vice President of Behavioral Health at JFCS, stated, "We are deeply honored to receive this designation. It affirms our commitment to providing essential services tailored to the unique needs of transition-aged youth."

Lorrie Henderson, Ph.D., MBA, LCSW, President and CEO of JFCS, added, "This designation fits perfectly with our longstanding mission to strengthen our community. I couldn't be prouder of our dedicated team for achieving this distinction. Their hard work and dedication enable us to make meaningful impacts in the lives of young people every day."

Transition to Adulthood Program
The JFCS Transition to Adulthood Program supports young adults between the ages of 16 and 21, aiding them in the preparation for a future of stability and well-being. Apart from assisting former and current foster care teens, JFCS also extends its reach to adolescents grappling with behavioral health conditions.

Recognition and Future Implications
As a result of this designation, JFCS will be identified as a Center of Excellence for Transition Aged Youth on Mercy Care’s website and provider directory. Additionally, this recognition will facilitate JFCS receiving increased referrals from network providers and case managers.

In Maricopa County alone, JFCS helps over 40,000 children, teens, adults, and families each year, providing a safety net for those who need it most. With the Center of Excellence designation, JFCS is positioned to continue its mission with amplified impact.
