Community Outreach and Education

Aleinu

This program is dedicated to strengthening Jewish families and providing support to the general community through educational workshops.

We offer culturally sensitive resources for the Jewish community and the community at large to strengthen individual and family life. Services include: mental health education and crisis intervention. Workshops are given on a variety of topics each year.

Quarterly workshop topics include:

  • Mental health education
  • Parenting groups
  • Aging issues

Aleinu is taken from the Hebrew meaning “it is our responsibility.”

Jewish Crisis & Response Team

When a trauma occurs, such as a medical emergency, fire, or death, professionals and highly trained paraprofessionals help the affected children, families, schools, synagogues, and Jewish institutions deal with the repercussions. The program offers immediate support services to help traumatized children and adults cope with the impact during the first days of the crisis.

Quality Support You Can Count On

While made up of volunteers, the Crisis Team participates in an emergency education class to ensure it can provide members of the community with the support it needs. Every year, Crisis Team Members attend a three hour training to maintain and enhance their crisis intervention skills. This course, in addition to long-standing experience aiding the community, has given our team insight into the challenges faced by people in the wake of tragedy. Through referrals to support groups, assistance with the immediate aftermath, or just providing a compassionate ear, the Crisis Team can help you figure out what to do next during this difficult time.

JFCS Aleinu is funded in part by the Center of Jewish Philanthropy. Thanks to their contribution we are able to provide our educators, therapists, and volunteers a valuable training session to keep their skills sharp and prepare them to appropriately handle a crisis in the Jewish Community.
